The two most popular beaches near Loutro are Sweetwater and Marmara. People who visit Loutro make sure they first head for sunbathing around the various Loutro beaches, or take a dip in the sea or simply snooze under their beach umbrellas. Some people also go for canoeing or boating across the bay. You can easily rent canoes or beach umbrellas. There are ferries that leave everyday at 11 for Sweetwater and Marmara beaches. Make sure you are in time for the ferries that have returns trips the same day in the afternoon. Many people opt to walk to Sweetwater or Marmara beach.

You can have a wonderful time at the beaches in Loutro by going for a swim, sunbathing, drinking beer or coffee at the sea side cafes, going for walks to the fortresses or canoeing. If you are in mood for some good adventure you can take a walk to the Phoenix and while there have a dip is its cozy beach. After leaving Phoenix you will come to Marmara beach where you are sure to have a wonderful time. There is also the Glyka Nera beach which is popularly called the Sweetwater beach. It is one of the loveliest beaches on the island. Due to the icy mountain water springs flowing into the blue green water this beach is always cool and clean. There are refreshments sold at all times.
